JOHNSTOWN, Pa., Feb. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) has received affiliate level status with the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR), an energy innovation hub sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science. Led by the U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory, JCESR pursues high performance, inexpensive, beyond lithium-ion electricity storage that will help transform transportation and the electricity grid.

According to Dan Markiewicz, senior principal engineer and technology platform leader for energy storage at CTC, "Over the past 18 years, CTC has successfully integrated energy storage in stationary, mobile and man-portable applications for clients, including the U.S. Department of Energy. The company is currently investigating electrolyte additives, battery component improvements, and the ability to level-load plants. These activities include all aspects of inquiry and study from modeling and simulation and prototype development to single-cell testing and stack scale-up."
