Gemalto wins Paybefore 2015 award for its AllAboutMe customized card service

AUSTIN, Texas, March 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653), the world leader in digital security, announces that Allynis AllAboutMe customized card service has been recognized as a 2015 Paybefore award winner in the category of judges' choice. The award criterion recognizes programs that make a significant impact in facilitating international payment solutions or emerging payment capabilities. Gemalto's customized card design service brings together innovative and personal card designs with the secure global payment standard, EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa). Top tier banks in over 27 countries are using AllAboutMe, demonstrating that consumer-driven, secure card creation has cross-border appeal and used everywhere that chip & PIN or chip & signature is accepted.

Customized cards provides banks with a top-of-wallet card position, capturing additional spend as it becomes the cardholder's preferred payment method due to an emotional bond being formed. One AllAboutMe customer found that their customized cards had an average increase of 54 percent in activations and a 68 percent increase in usage. The software-as-a-service (SaaS) interactive card design enables hassle free, cost-effective implementation for banks and other issuers. Cardholders can choose a personal photo, an image from their social media album or one from the image library to create a one-of-a-kind payment card. Every custom design goes through an image checking process to be screened prior to printing based on pre-defined issuer and scheme rules.

"We are honored to be recognized by this prestigious Paybefore award that highlights innovation and global technology in the payments space," said Bertrand Knopf, SVP of Secure Transactions for Gemalto. "As the global leader with hundreds of successful EMV implementations and more than 3 billion cards issued, Gemalto is well-positioned to design innovative, secure and convenient solutions that help banks increase and monetize their financial services."

"This year's Paybefore Awards have demonstrated once again that payments companies are committed to driving out the inefficiencies of cash and checks, while also increasing value for clients and end users," said Loraine DeBonis, Paybefore editor-in-chief and chair of the judging panel. "We're proud to recognize Gemalto's contributions to advancing electronic payments and financial services."
