InterDigital and Lamprey Networks to Demonstrate Continua/oneM2M Solution Bridging the Connected Health and M2M Markets at Mobile World Congress

BARCELONA, Spain, March 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS -- InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, and Lamprey Networks, Inc. (LNI), a leading provider of standards-based connected health solutions, today announced a demonstration that merges the use of Continua and oneM2M technologies in a connected health solution at Mobile World Congress running from March 2-5, 2015.

The two companies will demonstrate a use case involving a transition from full home monitoring to emergency hospital transportation and hospitalization, all while maintaining full connectivity and transfer of individual's vitals and health data to connected health applications. Through these applications, the care team is able to maintain full real-time access to the patient's health data, enabling them to monitor the individual's condition and to proactively plan hospital resources and other elements of care.

The demonstration integrates multiple off-the-shelf Continua-certified devices via a Continua/oneM2M compliant gateway that collects data and transmits it in standards-based formats to back-end systems including electronic medical records, health information exchanges, or personal health records. While this demo is a specific example of data assisting in an emergency situation, the tools can be utilized for monitoring chronic care needs such as diabetes, hypertension or heart disease on an ongoing, daily basis. The technology also provides assistance to those in independent living situations, and can enable earlier discharge of patients while maintaining effective observation and monitoring at home rather than through hospitalization.

"Through this collaboration, we are bringing the best of breed technologies from the M2M industry to establish a robust environment that allows care providers to respond in a proactive manner and assure the best outcomes for their patients," said Mike Mazzola, CEO of LNI. "Bringing in the capabilities of oneM2M enables us to interoperate and scale to a wide range of devices involved in health care delivery securely while greatly reducing the chances for errors in collecting that data. These technologies are available today for Carriers and meet ITU standards."

Global oneM2M standards initiative defines comprehensive service layer solutions to accelerate development and reuse of M2M/IoT data and applications across diverse verticals, networks, and devices. InterDigital's oneMPOWERTM portfolio is the most mature oneM2M standards-based solution in the industry today. "InterDigital is pleased to collaborate with LNI to both advance and future-proof Connected Health via Continua/oneM2M certified solutions," said James Nolan, Executive Vice President, InterDigital Solutions. The joint demonstration can be seen at Mobile World Congress booth 7A71.
