NACD Prepares Military Generals and Admirals for Boardroom Service

Announcing Graduates of the From Battlefield to Boardroom Board-Development Program for Senior Military Officers

WASHINGTON, March 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) today announced the Class of 2015 graduates of From Battlefield to Boardroom, an exclusive board-development program designed to prepare retired and soon-to-retire military flag and general officers to serve as leaders in the boardroom.

Led by experienced directors and governance professionals, this program addresses a full range of topics, such as the board's role in overseeing strategy development, risk management, CEO succession planning, and executive compensation. Sessions focus on helping senior officers translate their military experience into relevant board competencies and apply their executive ability to the challenges of corporate governance. The program also provides an opportunity for military flag and general officers, corporate directors, investor stakeholders, and governance professionals to exchange ideas, make connections, and build stronger boards.

This year's program featured a stellar faculty that included keynote speaker Shawn Henry, former executive assistant director of the FBI; Randy Holland, a justice of the Delaware Supreme Court; and Linda P. Hudson, former president and CEO of BAE Systems and a current director of BAE Systems, Bank of America, and Southern Co.

"This unique program helps military officers who are already very adept leaders to apply those invaluable skills directly within corporate boardrooms throughout the country," said Ken Daly, CEO of NACD. "It's an honor to be able to work with these accomplished men and women. We are confident that their strategic insights will strengthen organizations and bolster shareholder confidence."
