The VAC provides free air transportation to post 9/11 combat wounded and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes through a national network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots. The Window World plane was piloted by Johnny Johnston, Window World's chief pilot and an Army veteran.

LCDR Woods is active duty in the Navy, with 25 years of service and nine deployments. During his last tour, he learned his 4-year-old son was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. After undergoing multiple surgeries, radiation treatments and three months of high-dose chemotherapy, his son is cancer free. For his treatment plan, he must go to St. Jude every three months for MRIs.

Window World of Tidewater President and Co-Owner, Josh Reed and Owner, Dave Reed, and team were in attendance to meet Woods and family before their departure. "We thank Woods and his family for everything they have given for our country and are honored to help in this small way," said Reed.
