Gymnastics Canada receives Government of Canada funding to host International Gymnix 2015


MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - March 5, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), announced $50,000 in support to Gymnastics Canada, through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, to host the 24th edition of International Gymnix. This artistic gymnastics competition is being held at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex in Montréal from March 5 to 8, 2015.

Quick Facts

  • Hosting this event will provide Canadian female gymnasts (including 10 athletes currently receiving funding through Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program), 50 coaches and more than 28 Canadian officials with the opportunity to experience a high-level competition. More than 42 athletes from 13 countries will compete.
  • In the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the Government of Canada, through Sport Canada's Sport Support Program, is contributing up to $1,900,125 to Gymnastics Canada to support the delivery and development of gymnastics in Canada.
  • From April 2014 to March 2015, the Government of Canada, through Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program, will provide $703,014 to support 44 gymnastics athletes with living, education and training expenses to help them focus on their pursuit of excellence.
  • Gymnastics Canada, established in 1969, is the national governing body for the sport of gymnastics in this country.
