Louis Berger marks International Women's Day, reaffirms commitment to gender diversity

MORRISTOWN, N.J., March 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Louis Berger today celebrates International Women's Day, a moment for the company to reflect on the contributions of women leaders to the firm's success and to reaffirm its commitment to cultivating up-and-coming women executives across the organization.

"At Louis Berger, the Women at Louis Berger committee was launched last year to start a valuable dialogue about gender diversity in a way that is inclusive of all employees, and allows employees to explore skills and behaviors that enhance professional development and career growth," said Nicholas J. Masucci, president and CEO of Louis Berger.

The Women at Louis Berger committee, an employee-led initiative aiming to help women achieve their highest potential at the firm, represents one of the company's most substantive efforts to support greater gender diversity. In keeping with this year's International Women's Day theme, "Make It Happen," the committee has actively sought to identify and remove barriers to women's advancement in the organization through improved mentorship and professional development opportunities. In addition, to ensure transparency in progress made toward gender diversity, the committee has successfully advocated for making public the company's gender statistics, which have enabled candid exchanges regarding the challenges women face or perceive in the workplace.

"Louis Berger's commitment to promoting gender diversity compliments this year's theme for International Women's Day," said Jennifer Brunton, chair of the Women at Louis Berger committee. "The committee is dedicated to supporting Louis Berger's goal to increase the visibility of our women in leadership and to recognize our female employees working in science, engineering and technology."

To make gender diversity a year-round focus beyond International Women's Day, the committee has coordinated regular panel discussions in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Last month, in the United Arab Emirates, the committee co-hosted an event with AmCham Abu Dhabi's Women in Business Committee, which created the WOMEN ACHIEVE Initiative to support women's advancement into positions of higher responsibility and leadership. Featuring a diverse group of businesswomen and men managing some of the largest construction and engineering programs underway in the Middle East, the panel focused on career management best practices for women at all stages of their career.
