GIGABYTE and AppliedMicro Announce Commercial Availability of GIGABYTE MP30 Server Platform

Enterprise-Grade MP30 Server Features AppliedMicro's X-Gene(TM) Server on a Chip(R) Solution Based on ARMv8-A Architecture

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and TAIPEI, Taiwan, March 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GIGABYTE and Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ: AMCC) today announced the commercial availability of GIGABYTE's MP30 server platform. Powered by AppliedMicro's X-Gene Server on a Chip solution, the MP30 platform offers customers compelling performance-per-watt capability.

The MP30 platform enables its users to optimize server hardware for specific workloads, thereby improving performance and value and reducing total cost of ownership.

Built around X-Gene's ARMv8-A architecture and offering up to 128GB of highly accessible on-board memory, the GIGABYTE MP30 platform is intended for deployment as a general purpose server for memory-intensive workloads such as in-memory databases, storage, and content distribution networks.

Fully compliant with ARM Server Base System Architecture (SBSA) and Server Base Root Requirements (SBBR) standards, GIGABYTE's MP30 server platform represents an optimized application solution for cloud and scale-out computing, supported by a robust network of over 1,000 open source software developers.

AppliedMicro's X-Gene processor, which became commercially available in 2014, is the industry's first enterprise-hardened, ARM 64-bit Server on a Chip solution. Designed for cloud, enterprise-server and HPC applications, X-Gene's distinguishing features include multiple high performance processors running at up to 2.4GHz along with robust, high-speed memory and I/O.

"Our early access to X-Gene allows GIGABYTE to offer one of the first commercially available, enterprise-grade server platforms based on ARMv8-A architecture," said Vincent Teng, GIGABYTE's vice president of North America Business Development. "We are already seeing substantial interest from customers representing the cloud, enterprise and scientific communities."

"Optional 1U and 2U configurations make the MP30 extremely versatile for both server and high-performance computing workloads," Mr. Teng reaffirmed. "The MP30's platform versatility shows off X-Gene's price-performance advantages, especially in environments where high performance and low TCO really matter."

The MP30 platform is available through a worldwide reseller network of system integrators and distributors. For complete listings, please visit www.gigabyte.com.
