The Danish Ministry of Transport has published a political agreement for a new transport contract between the Danish state and DSB

Copenhagen, 2015-03-11 10:50 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Danish Ministry of Transport has published a political agreement for a new transport contract between the Danish state and DSB. In this connection the Chairman of DSB’s Board of Directors Peter Schütze made the following statement:

”I am pleased that an agreement has been reached on the contents of a new transport contract between the Danish state and DSB. The process has been long and strenuous for all parties involved, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has contributed. We can now continue our work with securing the best possible daily train services for the Danes in a time with great challenges.”

”The new 10-year contract ensures that the corporation will now have the peace to work that is crucial in the coming period where extensive demands will be made on the railway in Denmark. The changes the railway will be going through are historic with the railway becoming electrified, new electric trains to be purchased, and the future Danish railway services to be provided must be agreed on in a thorough and fact-based process. DSB will now be able to focus on providing its contributions to solving these challenges.”

“At the same time the framework of the new transport contract between the Danish state and DSB establishes that DSB must continue the efficiency enhancements the corporation has undergone over the past years. According to DSB’s new strategy, the corporation must deliver annual, ongoing operational improvements, and the importance of this requirement is stressed with the new transport contract. In more direct terms: DSB must provide more seats on the train for the Danes with the same amount of money.”
