AMP Holding Submits Response to United States Postal Service on Its RFI for Next Generation Delivery Vehicle Acquisition Program

Company Spotlights Potential Benefits to USPS of Its Workhorse Electric Truck and HorseFly Drone

CINCINNATI, March 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AMP Holding, Inc. (OTCQB:AMPD), the parent company of AMP Electric Vehicles Inc., responded on March 6 to a Request for Information and Prequalification (RFI) from the United States Postal Service (USPS) for its Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) Acquisition Program.

The USPS anticipates making a single award in 2017 to a supplier for up to 180,000 NGDVs to replace its current fleet of mail delivery vehicles. Delivery of the NGDVs to the USPS is expected to begin no later than January 2018. The USPS has stated that it expects to evaluate the submitted RFIs and announce a short list of OEMs in April, who will then submit detailed specifications and build several prototypes for testing.

AMP Holding outlined the potential cost savings to the USPS of its Workhorse E-GEN™ electric truck and HorseFly™ drone. In its response, the Company detailed its ability to develop vehicle prototypes; to produce, deliver and provide for national deployment of up to 180,000 vehicles; and to meet or exceed the 20-year useful life and 150,000-mile range requirements of the NGDVs. The Company's factory has the capacity to produce 60,000 vehicles per year.

Steve Burns, CEO of AMP Holding, said, "We believe our approach to the NGDV could help the USPS reduce operating costs and increase efficiency as they move toward larger vehicles that can accommodate both mail and packages. The heavy stop-and-go nature of mail and package delivery, combined with the limited miles traveled per day, are ideal for our electric Workhorse truck. Additionally, our optional integrated HorseFly package delivery drone is designed to increase the number of packages that a truck can deliver in a day. Our technology has the potential to make the USPS the greenest, most efficient delivery fleet in the world while giving it the advantages it needs to improve its bottom line. With a one-time replacement of the largest fleet in the world, the USPS has a unique opportunity to redefine how delivery trucks operate and how they affect the air we breathe."
