Nasdaq Commodities’ German power offering reached another daily record on Thursday 12 March with exchange traded power volumes amounting to 1 798,560 MWh, beating the record from February 16, 2012 (1 531,000 MWh).

Nasdaq Commodities’ market share of total cleared volumes was 17% on the record day.

Georg Aasen, VP Nasdaq Commodities and head of Nasdaq OMX Oslo ASA, said:

“We are very satisfied with how our German power derivative offering is developing and the new record clearly demonstrates that we keep going from strength to strength. We will soon sign a fifth Market Maker, yet another proof of Nasdaq’s momentum and market support for the objective of building a better market.“

The German Power offering is part of Nasdaq’s overall global commodities strategy to leverage its best in class technology platform and expand its presence in the largest power markets in Europe. With the increased focus on transparency by new regulations, exchange trading and clearing represent a great opportunity for Nasdaq Commodities in Europe and globally.
