Silver Airways and JetBlue Further Partnership With Codeshare

Florida's Largest Intrastate Airline Partners With JetBlue to Provide Customers Even More Florida and Bahamas Travel Options

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Silver Airways, Florida's largest intrastate airline, and JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq:JBLU) today announced a codeshare partnership, giving customers of both airlines easy and convenient access to even more destinations in Florida and the Bahamas.

Customers of both airlines benefit by booking a single ticket for travel on JetBlue with connections to a variety of Florida destinations served by Silver Airways, and travelers from Silver Airways' Florida destinations can easily connect to JetBlue's Latin America and Caribbean network. In addition, customers receive baggage transfers, as well as the opportunity to earn TrueBlue frequent flyer points on all Silver Airways flights.

By code sharing with Silver Airways, JetBlue is expanding its Florida network to offer even more connecting itineraries, including Gainesville, Key West, Pensacola, and Tallahassee. Silver's intra-Florida flights also allow JetBue to add new connections between Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa with points throughout the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America.

Under the agreement, JetBlue will place its airline designator code (B6) on nearly 500 of Silver's almost 700 intra-Florida flights per week, or over 70 percent of Silver's Florida flights.

Itineraries from JetBlue's network are now available for sale at JetBlue.com for travel starting March 29, 2015, connecting to codeshare routes operated by Silver Airways in Florida.

Silver Airways and JetBlue are also working towards adding codeshare flights on 13 routes to Silver's seven Bahamian destinations soon, subject to receipt of regulatory authorizations.

In addition, Silver Airways looks forward to continuing to welcome JetBlue customers aboard its other intra-Florida and Bahamas flights on which travelers can also earn TrueBlue points.

"We are delighted to expand our partnership with JetBlue to a full codeshare," said Silver Airways CEO Sami Teittinen. "As Florida's largest intrastate airline, we are committed to providing a valuable and critical travel link for Florida visitors and residents. This codeshare partnership will further strengthen both of our networks, providing business and leisure customers with even more travel options to and within Florida and the Bahamas."

"Whether you're originating in Florida, or you're on your way there, our codeshare with Silver Airways gives customers an easy way to book travel and earn TrueBlue points across our route networks," said Scott Laurence, senior vice president, airline planning, JetBlue. "With this codeshare, we can help our customers get to destinations like Key West and Pensacola more easily, while offering customers in Silver Airways cities connections to incredible JetBlue destinations."

In just 19 months since beginning operations as an independent airline, Silver Airways has developed a diverse and growing portfolio of airline partnerships that today includes codeshare agreements with JetBlue and United, as well as interline agreements with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, US Airways, Bahamasair, Alaska Airlines, Hahn Air, and All Nippon Airways. "This agreement is further validation of Silver Airways' commitment to supporting partner airlines' route networks with intra-Florida and Bahamas flying," added Teittinen. "The new JetBlue codeshare agreement is a perfect example of how Silver Airways continues to strategically develop airline partnerships that synergistically complement its partner airlines' networks."
