Uniworld Celebrates World Water Day as a #WaterChampion

TORONTO, March 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In celebration of World Water Day 2015 on March 22, award-winning Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection in partnership with The TreadRight Foundation, proudly announces their continued support of WHOLE WORLD Water, their partner in ensuring access to clean and safe water for all.

"Basic necessities, such as clean drinking water, should be available to everyone worldwide, and it is not. Our partnership with WHOLE WORLD Water helps to ensure access to clean and safe water for all," said Guy Young, President of Uniworld. "As we celebrate World Water Day 2015, we could not be more proud to be Water Champions by helping to spread the word around the world about this most important issue."

More than one billion people today do not have access to clean and safe water. WHOLE WORLD Water campaigns to unite the hospitality and tourism industry on a non-competitive platform to eradicate this issue. It is estimated the hospitality and tourism industry can contribute US$1 billion per year to alleviate this global issue.

"We are proud to stand alongside Uniworld in the fight for clean and safe water; Uniworld was one of the first members to join WHOLE WORLD Water and recognize that economic and social progress go hand in hand," says Jenifer Willig, co-founder of WHOLE WORLD Water. The launch of wholeworldwater.org is yet another exciting and encouraging step in this mission to give the whole world water."

"WHOLE WORLD Water relies on the commitment of our members all across the globe. We have been humbled by their passion and drive to help end this crisis. As a result, in a little over a year, we have been able to fund nine projects in Cambodia, India, and Uganda with new projects coming in Kenya and Madagascar, " says Karena Albers, co-founder of WHOLE WORLD Water.

Since becoming a WHOLE WORLD Water member in 2013, Uniworld has been a proud #WaterChampion, donating US$1 on behalf of each guest to the WHOLE WORLD Water Fund. Uniworld also makes it its mission to filter its own water, reduce plastic waste and put a greater emphasis on educating travellers on the importance of the initiative and the gravity of the global water issue.

WHOLE WORLD Water invests 100 per cent of the funds it raises into clean and safe water projects all over the world.

WHOLE World Water has launched its new consumer-facing website wholeworldwater.org, which asks one simple action - for the public to message local restaurants and invite them to join WHOLE WORLD Water via their Facebook location app.
