Urban Cultivator Celebrates the Launch of its Living Produce Aisle

Urban Cultivator's first Living Produce Aisle is a company owned concept store that grows fresh live greens and herbs. The concept store will be used as a model for a worldwide franchise rollout.

VANCOUVER, BC, March 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Urban Cultivator, the makers of the fully automated indoor growing appliances that produce live herbs and microgreens, launched the first Living Produce Aisle in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Living Produce Aisle is a brick-and-mortar store that combines a local grocer, smoothie & salad bar, and Urban Cultivator appliances, bringing healthy food options and sustainability to the local neighborhood. The company's newest project, the Living Produce Aisle, grows greens on-location in Urban Cultivator appliances,  which enables harvest at the time of consumption.

Additionally available in our new, Living Produce Aisle concept store will be a variety of live herbs and microgreens, including arugula, wheatgrass, and sunflower shoots, which are available for purchase or to be added into smoothies and salads.

Consumers worldwide are increasingly seeking out organic and healthy food, which is validated by the growth of farmer's markets and farm-to-table food trends globally. The goal of the Living Produce Aisle aligns with health-conscious consumers and aims to educate on all of the benefits that live greens offer.

"The Living Produce Aisle, located in the heart of Vancouver, is fueling the locavore revolution," states Urban Cultivator Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tarren Wolfe, "Our objective is to open Living Produce Aisle franchises worldwide, so that we may educate people on the many benefits of harvesting live greens compared to pre-cut herbs and microgreens. In most cases, within 24 hours of plucking the live green, half of the nutritional value is lost. The Living Produce Aisle affords communities greens at peak nutrition and reduces the carbon footprint of unnecessary food transport."

The Living Produce Aisle located in Vancouver, British Columbia is just the first of many franchise storefronts to come. As the global trend shifts toward adopting a rich leafy diet, the company is in negotiations to open several franchises across the globe.

Frank Terzo, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Urban Hydroponics, the company which has signed an agreement to merge with Urban Cultivator states, "We are excited about the growth prospects of the new Living Produce Aisle offering. This new franchise opportunity proves that management is developing new ways to create additional revenue streams."

The first Living Produce Aisle is located in Yaletown in Vancouver, British Columbia, at 1168 Hamilton Street. It is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm from Monday to Saturday, and 9:00am to 7:00pm on Sundays.
