II-VI Incorporated to Exhibit at OFC 2015 and Showcase a Portfolio of Products to Enable High Bit Rate Transponders and Transceivers

PITTSBURGH, March 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- II-VI Incorporated (Nasdaq:IIVI), a leading provider of solutions for next generation optical networks, today announced that it will be exhibiting at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference (OFC 2015) in Booth #735, on March 24-26, 2015 in Los Angeles, California, where it will showcase a portfolio of amplification products to enable high performance, high bit rate (100, 200, 400 Gbps and beyond) optical transmission.

High bit rate coherent transceivers at 100 Gbps are routinely deployed in long haul and ultra-long haul optical networks. These systems are now making their way into metro and regional optical networks. Transmission systems operating at 400 Gbps are emerging, and the complex modulation schemes needed for these new systems require ultra-compact, high performance amplification solutions.

"High bit rate transceivers and transponders require creative packaging technologies and differentiated optical components. II-VI is a vertically integrated market leader in this segment. Our unique, ultra-compact optical amplifiers, uncooled pump lasers, passive hybrids and advanced tunable filters are key enablers of these highly compact next generation transceivers and transponders," said Dr. Richard Smart, General Manager of the Network Solutions Division and Chief Scientist, Optical Communications Group. "We anticipated the challenges and have developed a unique set of compact tunable optical filter solutions designed for optical noise suppression," he added.

"We are a market leader in compact amplification solutions for high bit rate transponders and transceivers and we look forward to a strong market demand," said Sunny Sun, Senior Vice President, II-VI Incorporated, who leads the company's Optical Communications Group.
