(PSI) (Nasdaq:PSIX), a leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of emissions-certified alternative-fuel and conventional power systems, announced the appointment of Thomas W. Smith as Chief Executive Officer of Professional Power Products, Inc. (3PI), a wholly owned subsidiary of PSI.
Thomas W. Smith accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of 3PI, effective March 23, 2015. Thomas has worked in the energy industry for over 30 years. Most recently, he was an industry consultant focusing on the development, construction, financing and servicing of efficient/green cogeneration/distributed generation systems. Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Smith founded and sold CPL DG Group, Inc. and Endurant Energy LLC, two power development/service companies. He also served as the VP of Energy Operations at Equity Office Properties where he was responsible for managing all of the company's energy initiatives, including commodity procurement, retrofit services and cogeneration development/operations. Before joining Equity Office Properties in 2001, Thomas served as President and General Manager of a power company that secured energy optimization and cogeneration contracts for global corporations, industrial facilities and state universities. Mr. Smith started his career with Westinghouse Electric where he held various positions and completed the executive sales engineering training program.
Mr. Smith has a Business Degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and is a member of the Midwest Cogen Association Board, CHP Association, and BOMA Chicago Energy Center Board. He has testified in numerous state rate cases in the alternative energy and distributed generation industries.
