Aldeyra Therapeutics Opens Enrollment in Noninfectious Anterior Uveitis Phase II Clinical Trial

LEXINGTON, Mass., March 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aldeyra Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq:ALDX) (Aldeyra), a biotechnology company focused on the development of products to treat diseases related to free aldehydes, today announced that it has opened enrollment for its Phase II clinical trial of NS2 for patients with noninfectious anterior uveitis. The study will be conducted at top U.S. anterior uveitis clinical trial sites, and led by Dr. Stephen Foster, a recognized clinical expert in ocular inflammation.

Todd C. Brady, M.D., Ph.D., President and CEO of Aldeyra, commented, "With the opening of enrollment in our Phase II clinical trial in noninfectious anterior uveitis, we have achieved a significant step as it marks the second Phase II clinical trial that we have initiated this month. This is another milestone for Aldeyra as we work to demonstrate the ability of our aldehyde trap to treat an array of inflammatory diseases. We look forward to completing this study and expect to provide preliminary data by the end of 2015."

About NS2

NS2 is an aldehyde-binding small molecule based on an innovative platform technology focused on trapping free aldehydes, which are toxic and pro-inflammatory mediators of numerous diseases. By decreasing aldehyde load, NS2 may mitigate excessive inflammation and address diseases where aldehydes are thought to mediate pathology.

About Noninfectious Anterior Uveitis

Noninfectious anterior uveitis is a rare disease that may be mediated in part by pro-inflammatory aldehydes and is characterized by inflammation in the front of the eye, pain, impaired vision, and photophobia.
