Hang w/ Introduces News Feed, Hashtag Search, and Enhanced Streaming on Twitter With New Update for iOS & Android

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., April 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hang w/ has simultaneously released an update for both iOS and Android that introduces a number of new features, including an improved direct to Twitter streaming function, a personalized News Feed and the ability to search broadcasts by Hashtag. These new features are intended to further improve the discoverability of content as Hang w/ vies to increase its feature set lead over other Live Broadcast apps in the category.

The improved Twitter integration will share a live view of the broadcast via Twitter Card fully integrating with the in-stream experience - rather than just sharing a link. When the live broadcast is completed, an archived view of the video is immediately viewable within the Twitter Card. A user does not need to have the Hang w/ application in order to view the live or the archived broadcast via Twitter.

Unlike newly arrived competitors in the space, Hang w/ streams to a total of five different platforms - including Twitter, Facebook, within an embeddable web widget, on Hangwith.com, and in the Hang w/ app. The cross platform capability gives brands, artists, entertainers, and all users the ability to reach an audience wherever they may be.

The new Hang w/ update also saw the launch of a personalized News Feed and Hashtag Search. The News Feed feature ensures that there's always relevant content for any user by displaying a personalized feed of archived broadcasts. The Hashtag Search enables users to discover content that's personally relevant by searching the massive library of archived broadcasts.

"The live space is evolving and we are excited to be pushing it forward," said Andrew Maltin, Hang w/ CEO. "We are seeing that users want to publish live content across multiple platforms so that it can reach their fans and followers wherever they may be. We've also seen that the content has a long tail beyond the moment it's live - and so we are adding tools to help our users discover what they might have missed. It's clear that users are enjoying the easy access to archived content - as we have already seen a large percentage increase in views since launching the News Feed a few days ago."

Hang w/ was released to the market in 2013 and has been updated and enhanced frequently based on the needs and desires of the app's loyal user base. Hang w/ allows anyone with an iPhone or an Android device to broadcast live video. Broadcasters can choose to share content with the public at large - or to only a select group of viewers through Private Access broadcasting. Viewers can engage with the broadcaster using real-time chat.

The Hang w/ system is built atop a sophisticated ad-serving platform the enables targeted pre- and post-roll advertising to surround the broadcast. Hang w/ allows users to earn money by sharing in the revenue created by their own live streams.

The platform has also enhanced its ad serving technology, enabling the posting of advertising directly into Hang w/ broadcasts on the Twitter environment - enabling broadcasters to earn advertising revenue via organic and viral distribution of their live content.

The ability to monetize social media has attracted attention and investment from the celebrity set - with 50 Cent, Timbaland, Larry the Cable Guy, Jared Leto and Terrell Owens counted among the platform's shareholders and advisors.
