Creative and Technology Agency MRY Supports the Transgender Community by Hosting the World Premiere of Carla

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 7, 2015) - The Egalite chapter of creative and technology agency MRY (www.mry.com) announced today the New York City premiere of the film Carla, hosted in conjunction with Starcom MediaVest Group (www.smvgroup.com).

Carla, which was written, directed, and produced in partnership between MRY employee Lilly Cadoch and her husband Eli Hershko, depicts the touching story of two pre-operational transgender women. MRY is proud to be one of the first agencies to support a transgender cause to this magnitude.

"At MRY, we pride ourselves on having an open, welcoming, and supportive environment for our LGBT employees, and we advocate for these communities heavily through our chapter of Egalite, the Publicis Groupe's internal network for LGBT employees and their allies," said Matt Britton, CEO and Founder of MRY. "We are proud to further empower transgender people by hosting the world premiere of this powerful film."

Carla stars Joslyn DeFreece, Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black), and Gregg Bello, with Mark Margolis (Breaking Bad). While this movie focuses on only two transgender women, Carla is based on 9 million true stories. The filmmakers hope that distribution efforts will bring to light the prejudice and violence against this misunderstood lifestyle, and help those who are dedicated to creating a safe and accepting place for people in the transgender community. Conjured Visions is self-distributing the film through Indiegogo to help raise awareness and money for The National Center for Transgender Equality, a 501(c)3 social justice organization dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration, and empowerment.

The New York City premiere of Carla will take place on April 20, 2015 at the Ziegfield Theater and is open to the public. The premiere will include welcome remarks and a Q&A with select cast. More information about the premiere and how to RSVP can be found here.
