SOLON, Ohio, April 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energy Focus, Inc. (Nasdaq:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies, today announced that it has received a new $6.0 million order for the United States Navy for Energy Focus' military Intellitube® LED retrofit tubes. This order is expected to be shipped during the second and third quarters of 2015. Energy Focus, Inc. remains the only U.S. Navy military-spec qualified tubular LED lamp provider and maintains its manufacturing and assembly capabilities for this product in the United States.
The military Intellitube LED tube, like the commercial Intellitube the Company launched on April 8th, offers "plug-and-play" technology for direct-fit into existing fluorescent sockets with or without the ballast in place. To date, this proprietary circuit and LED lamp designed by Energy Focus is now installed on more than 166 naval vessels in the U.S. Navy fleet consisting of 298 deployable battle force ships. Upon delivery of this order, the U.S. Navy will have converted approximately 16% of its fluorescent replaceable tubes with Energy Focus' Intellitube products.
