Stamford, CT, April 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Non-profit SoldierSocks announced today that Commander Rorke Denver will join its Advisory Board.

The SoldierSocks Advisory Board provides counsel on ways to better serve and assist members of the U.S. Armed Forces. In addition to Commander Rorke, the Advisory Board is comprised of Fox News Anchor Martha MacCallum, Congressman Jon D. Runyan, former United States Senator Joseph Lieberman, Philanthropist John H. Linnartz, Former CEO Linda McMahon, Colonel Bill Smullen, Special Advisor to former Joint Chief of Staffs and Secretary of State General Colin Powell, Dr. Kathleen H. Hicks and Retired Vice Admiral Bob Murrett.

"I am excited to join the SoldierSocks Advisory Board and look forward to helping SoldierSocks assist members of the Armed Services," said Commander Rorke. "I know firsthand how difficult it is to serve abroad and re-acclimate when returning home. SoldierSocks is working diligently to ensure that there are resources available to help veterans in the next phase of their lives."

"We are honored to have Commander Rorke join our Advisory Board and look forward to his ideas and guidance," said SoldierSocks Co-Founder, Chris Meek. "His tremendous experience in the field will make him an invaluable asset as we continue to identify new resources to support our nation's heroes."

In 2006, Denver was officer in charge of BRAVO Platoon of SEAL Team THREE in Iraq's Al Anbar Province in one of the most combat-heavy deployments of any regular SEAL team since Vietnam.  Denver was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" for valorous action in combat.

Commander Denver has run every phase of training for the U.S. Navy SEALs and led special-forces missions in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and other international hot spots.

He starred in the hit film Act of Valor, which is based on true SEAL adventures. His first book, the New York Times Bestseller: Damn Few: Making the Modern SEAL Warrior, takes you inside his personal story and the fascinating, demanding SEAL training program.
