Reterro Continues Series of Projects for Fortune 500 Customer

Clean-Up of Former Bulk Fuel Terminal in Alaska Marks First Initiative Outside of Continental United States for Green Remediation Leader

PLEASANTON, Calif., April 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Reterro, Inc., an emerging green remediation leader in eliminating hydrocarbon contamination from ongoing waste streams and soil, announced today that it has initiated the latest in a series of hydro-carbon soil remediation projects on behalf of a U.S. Fortune 500 corporate customer.

The Alaskan site clean-up – the first outside of the Continental United States for Reterro – marks the most recent of a series of projects for the company on behalf of the large global leader, which is included in the top five of the Fortune 500. Reterro's previously successful remediation for this customer was located in California.

Reterro's newest assignment is to remediate a now-vacant site of a former bulk fuel terminal, which contains diesel contamination at levels above acceptable levels stipulated by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conversation (ADEC). The site, located in a residential community of numerous houses, has not been operational since 1991. When it was in operation, the site included 10 above-ground storage tanks containing diesel, gasoline, heating oil, kerosene and aviation gasoline. The facility also featured a truck loading rack, an underground oil/water separator and adjacent land containing a residential house.

Reterro, approved by ADEC as a portable soil treatment facility, was selected for the project because its solution was the most cost-effective and least intrusive for the surrounding community. The Reterro Principle™ – which cleans the earth on-site and eliminates the need for trucking away of contaminated soil – squarely addressed acute public health and safety concerns.

Customer and government representatives made particular note of one Reterro project that precluded an estimated 2.8 million miles of large-truck transport of contaminated shipments.  Local weight limits on vehicles in Alaska would have effectively required competing solutions to double the number of back-and-forth truck trips – along with the related additional fuel emissions and potential for traffic accidents. Competing solutions also would have necessitated barge shipments of the contaminated soil to a landfill site in Washington State.

"Reterro's small on-site footprint, flameless process and unblemished safety record is generating more and more demand throughout North America for precisely these kinds of public health and safety reasons," said Reterro Chief Executive Officer Ferdinand Seemann. "We are extremely energized to bring our record of 100% certainty of efficacy in soil and waste-stream remediation to Alaska. And we are gratified to have earned the confidence of our Fortune 5 customer for yet another project."

The Reterro Principle™, Reterro's proprietary methodology, features a small on-site footprint and flameless process that delivers immediate certainty in safe waste-stream and soil remediation. The methodology constitutes the quickest, most cost-effective, cleanest and most compliant route to preventing ongoing contamination and unlocking the greatest value in previously unusable contaminated sites.
