The Berry Company and the Boy Scouts Environmental Awareness Campaign Collects Thousands of Pounds of Outdated Phone Books for Recycling

LINCOLN, Neb., April 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Berry Company recently completed the seventh-annual Think Yellow, Go Green program, which focuses on directory recycling in the Lincoln community. The Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts, Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department and Recycling Enterprises of Nebraska, Inc. partnered with Berry on the month-long environmental awareness campaign, which encourages the local community to recycle their outdated directories as the 2015 Windstream Yellow Pages were distributed in Lincoln.

The outdated directories, which were collected door-to-door in area neighborhoods and at local businesses by the Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts and dropped off by local residents at several parks and recreation centers in Lincoln, will be recycled and converted into reusable materials by Recycling Enterprises of Nebraska.

"We're proud and grateful to be celebrating another successful year for our Think Yellow, Go Green recycling program in Lincoln on Earth Day," said Laura Cole, vice president, Marketing, for Berry. "Together with our partners and the local residents and businesses that support this program, we're helping to make Lincoln a greener place to live and work."

Recycling and environmental sustainability are important initiatives year-round, so residences and businesses should check with the City of Lincoln recycling department for more information on recycling programs offered in their area.

Consumers use multiple sources when they are looking for local products and services, according to a Booth research study conducted last year. People turn to the Yellow Pages, but they also turn to other online, mobile and social media for local search. In fact, the recent research indicates that 90 percent of consumers use the Windstream Yellow Pages and 87 percent prefer it when compared to the competition. The Berry Company has transformed its approach to help advertisers ensure they are accessible wherever consumers are searching. The company's legacy is in print directories but it also provides online directories, web sites, search engine marketing, video and more.
