Varonis to Show 'Peace of Mind' for Office 365 at Microsoft Ignite

67% in Flash Survey at Last Week's RSA Conference Plan to Move Data to Office 365; 95% Concerned About Ability to Control This Data

NEW YORK, April 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Varonis Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRNS), the leading provider of software solutions for unstructured enterprise data, will showcase how organizations moving to Microsoft Office 365 Services for Enterprise can gain the peace of mind of being in control of their sensitive data, at Microsoft Ignite from May 4-8th in Chicago. Varonis will demonstrate its market-leading platform for managing and protecting the most valuable enterprise data in booth #240 at Microsoft's largest and most comprehensive technology event.

For the past decade, Varonis has been helping thousands of organizations manage, protect and get more out of their unstructured data in on-premise IT infrastructures. Varonis previously announced plans to extend its core Metadata Framework to offer permissions visibility and auditing for Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Active Directory for Office 365, hosted in Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform. Varonis will be introducing new compatibility with Office 365 in 2015, for organizations looking to extend their heavily used business applications into the cloud with the same confidence that Varonis solutions instill on premise.

In a one-day flash survey conducted at the RSA Conference in San Francisco last week, 67% of respondents said their companies are considering moving some or all of their file shares, SharePoint or email to Office 365. Fifty-eight percent of respondents expect it to be harder (34%) or much harder (24%) to control data on Office 365 than on premise. Survey respondents represented a mix of CIOs, CISOs, IT managers, security managers, and others spanning various industries including financial services, healthcare, government, entertainment, education, and technology.

Additional key findings from the flash survey at RSAC 2015:

  • 95% of respondents have concerns about their ability to control data in Office 365. Their concerns include: ability to easily search data, ability to control who has access to data, ability to classify sensitive data, ability to know who has access to what data, ability to know if someone misuses data, and ability to archive data. 25% cited "all of the above."
  • Only 5% of respondents have no concerns about Office 365.
  • The highest number of respondents (35%) cited cost savings as the main driver behind their decision to move to the cloud.

David Gibson, Varonis Vice President, said, "Many of our customers are in the initial stages of moving some of their human-generated data to the cloud, but they're concerned about losing the level of control they now enjoy because of Varonis. They need to make sure they understand who can and who does use data, and they need to make sure sensitive content is stored in the right places. No technology is better suited to help them protect and manage this data, on premise or in the cloud, than the Varonis Metadata Framework.  We're thrilled to show our customers and Ignite attendees several new products and capabilities launched in the past year."
