LEMMINKÄINEN TO RENOVATE A SEWER TUNNEL IN TALLINN, ESTONIA

Lemminkäinen and AS Tallinna Vesi have agreed upon the repair work of the Tihase (Merimetsä) tunnel collector in Tallinn. The value of the contract is approximately EUR 6 million. The work will begin immediately and it will be completed by the end of 2015.

Tihase tunnel collector forms a part of the Tallinn sewerage system that is used to conduct wastewater and storm water from the areas of Mustamäe and Kristiine to the wastewater treatment plant in Paljassaare.

The contract includes the renovation of the damaged parts of the tunnel running 10 metres deep and ensuring undisturbed operations.

“When choosing the contractor, expertise in foundation engineering and its reliability were crucial in addition to the fact that Lemminkäinen can take care of the entire contract from design to the final tunnel,” says CEO Karl Brookes of Tallinna Vesi.
