Media Advisory: Province Wide Day of Action: "Dish Towel Demos"

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - May 5, 2015) - The Nova Scotia Citizens' Health Care Network is organizing rallies outside 10 MLA offices around the province on Wednesday at noon. Patients, concerned citizens and health professionals will call on the Liberal government to reject competitive bidding in home care and instead move to protect care and caregivers.

Health Minister Leo Glavine has said he does not believe "home support workers should be paid $18 an hour to wash dishes." Demonstrators will bring dish towels to clear up Glavine's misconceptions, and to 'clean up' the mess he's making in home care. They'll call on their local MLA to instead move to improve and include home care under public health insurance.

What: 10 rallies at MLA offices across the province in response to the plan by Health Minister Leo Glavine and the NS Liberal government to contract out and privatize home care services through a "competitive bidding" process.

Who: Nova Scotians concerned about the future of public health care including health care professionals and seniors. The rallies are organized by the Nova Scotia Citizens' Health Care Network, a non-profit patient advocacy organization.
