First proton treatments with RayStation and MEVION S250

Ackerman Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida treats its first patient with
the MEVION S250 and the RayStation® Treatment Planning System.
On April 30, 2015 a major milestone was reached at Ackerman Cancer Center in
Jacksonville, Florida when the first patient was treated with the MEVION S250
and the RayStation® Treatment Planning System. Ackerman Cancer Center is the
first private, physician-owned practice to implement proton therapy.

The clinical patient treatment plans were created entirely in RayStation®,
RaySearch’s highly advanced treatment planning and dose tracking software
platform, and delivered on the MEVION S250 Proton System. “Providing this kind
of innovative technology in a private setting is something that we knew we could
accomplish. We look forward to working with our partners, RaySearch and Mevion,
well into the future to bring cutting edge treatments to our patients,” said
Scot Ackerman, M.D., Medical Director of the Center.
