OMA Announces the Start of Operations of Volaris in Its Durango Airport With a Route to Tijuana


MONTERREY, Mexico, May 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (Nasdaq:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), announces the start of operations of the Mexican airline Volaris in its Durango Airport.

The inaugural ceremony at the "General Guadalupe Victoria" International Airport included the participation of José Ángel Reinosa, the Durango State Minister of Tourism; Elvira Silerio, the Undersecretary for Promotion of Durango; Ramiro Cisneros, the DGAC's Airport Commandant; Holger Blankenstein, Volaris's Commercial Director; and Adán Galvez, OMA's Durango Airport Manager.

Volaris starts operations in Durango with a weekly flight to Tijuana, on a 144-passenger capacity Airbus A319. The initiative is expected to strengthen the regional connectivity of the Durango Airport and promote business travel to Durango, by increasing the opportunities to travel to one of Mexico's most dynamic frontier cities.

In the first quarter of 2015, the Durango Airport increased passenger traffic by 21.2% compared to the same period of 2014, to 64,137 passengers.
