Alison Terwilliger Joins Bank of Hampton Roads as Raleigh Commercial Relationship Manager


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., May 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc. (Nasdaq:HMPR) (the "Company"), the holding company for The Bank of Hampton Roads ("BHR") and Shore Bank ("Shore"), today announced that Alison Terwilliger has joined BHR as a Vice-President and Raleigh Market Commercial Relationship Manager. BHR does business in Raleigh under the "Gateway Bank" brand and the Company's mortgage subsidiary, Gateway Bank Mortgage, is also headquartered at the Company's Lake Boone location. 

Terwilliger will report to F. Scot McAlexander, Raleigh Market President, and joins Financial Center Manager Katie Sessoms and Assistant Financial Center Manager and Small Business Representative Jose Fuentes in the Lake Boone Financial Center. In this position, Terwilliger shares responsibility for all aspects of commercial banking business growth and development in the Raleigh market.

Terwilliger most recently worked at Fidelity Bank in Apex, NC since 2013, serving as a Business Development Officer. Previously, she was a Business Services Officer and Relationship Manager with BB&T in Apex and Holly Springs, NC and spent eleven years at Suntrust where she held a variety of positions, including Commercial Relationship Manager, Business Banking Relationship Manager and Branch Manager. Ms. Terwilliger began her banking career at First Citizens Bank in Cary, NC.

Terwilliger received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology and Psychology from SUNY in Buffalo, New York. She is actively involved in a number of local community organizations, including serving as a member of the Rotary of Apex, NC and has been active in the Junior League of Raleigh the White Plains Children's Center Board, Leadership Cary the Cary Chamber of Commerce, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Cub Scouts.
