Order for three C-RAD systems from Bayreuth, Germany

Press release 2015-05-21

C-RAD secured an order for a Catalyst™, a Catalyst HD™, and a Sentinel™ system from Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH, which operates the radiation oncology clinic in Upper Franconia, Bavaria in southern Germany.

The Catalyst and the Catalyst HD will be delivered with the complete software configuration containing modules for Respiratory Gating, Patient Setup and Positioning, and Motion Monitoring, as well as interfaces to a Philips CT and Elekta linear accelerators. The customer also decided on the unique audio-visual couching functionality that supports an interactive gating mode.

Delivery and installation of the systems are expected to take place in 2015.

The Klinikum Bayreuth has its radiation therapy department located at two sites: One is in Bayreuth and a second branch has been opened in Kulmbach. The clinic has its focus, among other treatment indications, on inter- and intracranial stereotactic treatments.

The Catalyst and Sentinel systems offer the required technology to perform high-end treatment techniques within radiation therapy. With this solution C-RAD supports the whole 4D treatment chain from imaging to delivery. Respiratory gated treatments are frequently used when the target volume is close to cardiac tissue or for special treatments in which the tumor position depends on the respiratory cycle.

“Our clinic is equipped with Elekta linear accelerators as well as with one Philips CT,” says Prof. Dr. Ludwig Keilholz of Klinikum Bayreuth. “We want to offer the maximum in quality within radiation therapy to our patients. The flexibility of the C-RAD system provides us with all possibilities for respiratory triggered treatments as well as to secure high precision patient positioning and monitoring prior and during treatment.”

“It is a pleasure to welcome the radiation therapy team in Bayreuth to our rapidly growing group of C-RAD customers,” says Tim Thurn, CEO of C-RAD. “Even as we continue to show a very successful sales momentum, there is still a high potential for the cutting edge C-RAD technology in our key markets. Our strategy of focusing our resources on key markets to provide excellent customer service is proving to be effective. ”
