Plug Power Announces Master Sales Agreement With Large Footwear Manufacturer for GenKey Hydrogen Fuel Cell Solution

Highlights to Be Discussed Live at Plug POWERTrip Stop in San Francisco

LATHAM, N.Y., May 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Plug Power Inc. (Nasdaq:PLUG), a leader in providing clean, reliable energy solutions announces a master sales agreement (MSA) with a large footwear manufacturer in North America, that outlines purchase terms and defines site-specific agreements for deployment of Plug Power's GenKey hydrogen and fuel cell solution.

The footwear manufacturer has completed a successful demonstration at one of its distribution centers. By signing the MSA, corporate management at the footwear manufacturer has defined the first three sites where Plug Power's GenKey hydrogen and fuel cell solution will be implemented and is analyzing wide adoption of the technology in its 30 sites globally. GenKey enables seamless implementation of hydrogen fuel cells by material handling customers, combining GenDrive fuel cells, GenCare aftermarket service and GenFuel hydrogen molecule, storage and dispensing infrastructure.

"Plug Power continues to grow our customer base with important partnerships and meaningful relationships," said Andy Marsh, CEO at Plug Power. "We've proven the value of our solutions to repeat customers like Walmart, Kroger and BMW, and we intend to do the same with this new GenKey customer."

GenKey opens the door to more sustainable, environmentally friendly operations. Hydrogen is a zero-emissions fuel, enabling fuel cell systems to produce only heat and water as byproducts. Adoption of hydrogen fuel cells helps customers eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and reduce their carbon footprint.

"Plug Power understands that the GenKey solution is impactful to customers who are moving their organizations toward more sustainable power options," continues Marsh. "Our hydrogen and fuel cell services enable customers to implement an efficient green power solution for their lift trucks that addresses a key issue for this new customer. We're confident they will see positive results in their environmental impact, as well as their bottom line."
