WASHINGTON, June 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Abengoa (MCE:ABG.B/P SM) (Nasdaq:ABGB), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has been selected by Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to construct four new substations in the state of Sinaloa, north-west Mexico.
Abengoa will be responsible for the engineering, design, construction and commissioning of the Louisiana Banco 2, San Rafael, Los Mochis I and III substations. The project is expected to be completed within 16 months.
Abengoa has been involved in numerous projects in the country, most notably the cogeneration plant that it is currently constructing for Pemex, and the El Zapotillo aqueduct, which will supply drinking water to nearly 1.5 million Mexicans.
This latest project will boost Abengoa's experience of power transmission, consolidating its leadership in this sector around the world and its commitment to the Mexican market in particular. The company already has more than 6,500 km of transmission and distribution lines and is involved in developing more than 3.9 GW of generating capacity in this country. Abengoa has constructed more than 25,000 km of transmission lines and 280 electrical substations over the last 10 years, helping to develop infrastructures for transporting electrical power.
