eSilicon Adds SMIC as a Foundry Choice for Online GDSII Quoting

GDSII Explorer Tool Expanded With New Foundry Support

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 3, 2015) -  eSilicon Corporation, a leading independent semiconductor design and manufacturing solutions provider, today announced the addition of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC") (NYSE: SMI) (SEHK: 981) as a new foundry choice for its GDSII Explorer online quoting tool.

GDSII Explorer offers the ability to fully specify the manufacturing process requirements for submission of a GDSII design to manufacturing. The required manufacturing process information is specified through a series of easy-to-use menus, along with requirements for packaging, testing and delivery. An executable quotation from eSilicon is then provided online in seconds, which includes non-recurring engineering (NRE) pricing and volume production unit pricing for the ASIC device.

"SMIC believes that by leveraging the internet, we can reach our customers with the most up-to-date information. eSilicon's GDSII Explorer provides this kind of access, along with an enhanced customer experience," said Sunny Hui, Senior Vice President of Marketing, SMIC. "Through eSilicon's GDSII Explorer, we can offer a direct and effective way for our customers to be connected with us."

"We've seen a steady rise in usage of GDSII Explorer," said Mike Gianfagna, eSilicon's vice president of marketing. "The addition of SMIC as a new foundry option will provide our customers with more flexibility as they plan their next ASIC design."

GDSII Explorer is part of the eSilicon STAR (self-service, transparent, accurate, real-time) platform that supports IP browsing and evaluation, instant quoting, chip optimization services and work-in-process tracking capabilities.

Users can register for an account on the eSilicon STAR platform through eSilicon's online registration interface. There is no cost or obligation to use any of the STAR tools. More information about the eSilicon STAR platform may be found on eSilicon's website.

eSilicon will be providing more details on GDSII Explorer and all the eSilicon STAR tools in ARM's Connected Community booth #2414 at the 52nd Design Automation Conference (DAC) at Moscone Center in San Francisco from June 8 -10, 2015. eSilicon will also present details of the new GDSII Explorer capabilities in the SMIC booth (#2803) at DAC on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 3:10 PM. You can find more information about eSilicon's other planned activities at DAC 2015 here.
