CLEVELAND, June 03, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- East Cleveland announced the closing of Helen S. Brown Senior Center on December 30, 2014. Less than two weeks later, the Rose Centers for Aging Well, a subsidiary of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging, stepped in to provide home-delivered meals to low-income homebound seniors who had relied on Helen S. Brown for meals.
Now Benjamin Rose and the Rose Centers are partnering with New Life Cathedral at 16200 Euclid Avenue to revitalize needed services and opportunities for engagement. New Life has offered its space for programming and hot lunch-time meals for East Cleveland seniors.
The Third Federal Foundation has joined the effort by pledging $25,000 to help defray the capital and operational costs to open the new center at New Life Cathedral. Renovations are currently underway.
The center, which will operate as a new site of the Rose Centers for Aging Well, is scheduled to open June 15.

We are committed to meeting the needs of our community and we are excited to be working with the Rose Centers to restore services to the seniors in East Cleveland.”

The 42-year-old Helen S. Brown Senior Center regularly served more than 250 East Cleveland seniors. With the newly renovated space and commitment from Benjamin Rose, the new Rose Center for Aging Well at New Life Cathedral hopes to grow the number of older adults served to 300-500.
