Alytus, Lithuania, 2015-06-05 15:44 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On 21 October 2014 UAB Mineraliniai vandenys (hereinafter - MV) delivered to the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter - Council) a notice on concentration by acquiring up to 100 percent of Company group ALITA AB (hereinafter – Alita) shares.
On 14 November 2014 MV, seeking to prevent possible restriction of competition in the vodka and bitters markets in Lithuania, delivered to the Council undertakings1 (hereinafter - Undertakings), which were updated on 26 November 2014.
On 5 December 2014the Council allowed ot MV to obtain up to 100 percent of Alita shares with a condition that MV shall transfer the business of Alita and AB „Anykščių vynas“ related to the production and sales activities in Lithuania regarding vodka and bitters (hereinafter - Business).
On 24 March 2015 the Council in its procedural meeting consented to the candidature of Business buyer - UAB „Birštono mineraliniai vandenys“ ir Ko - provided by MV.
On 4 June 2015 closing of a Business transfer transaction ended during which UAB „Birštono mineraliniai vandenys“ ir Ko obtained title to the trademarks in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, which had to be transferred according to the Undertakings.
In the opinion of Alita management, the income generated by the Business part under the tense competition conditions would be important, however, the main activities of Alita and the whole group was and will be orientated and developed in the categories of sparkling wine, natural wine and brandy products, which generated more than 90 percent of the company‘s income.
