ANADIGICS Showcases 204 MHz Cable Modem Reverse Path Amplifier

New ARA2031 Supports the DOCSIS 3.1 "High-Split" Return Path With Superior Performance Across a Wide Frequency Range

COLOGNE, Germany, June 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ANADIGICS, Inc. (Nasdaq:ANAD) ("ANADIGICS" or the "Company"), a world leader in radio frequency (RF) solutions, today introduced the ARA2031 reverse path amplifier at ANGA COM 2015. This solution delivers optimized performance for DOCSIS 3.1 CPE devices, including cable modems and gateways.

According to Infonetics Research, from the fourth quarter 2011 to third quarter 2014, cumulative global shipments of DOCSIS 3.0 CPE devices reached nearly 90 million units. The new DOCSIS 3.1 standard leverages an expanded frequency range and new signal modulation scheme to improve network efficiency, which enables MSOs to offer a wider array of multimedia services and dramatically faster data speeds. ANADIGICS' new ARA2031 reverse path amplifier offers world-class output power and linearity over the full 204 MHz frequency band. This level of performance supports two OFDM-A 96 MHz wide upstream channels as specified by DOCSIS 3.1, enabling CATV MSOs to offer gigabit upload speeds for the first time.

"High-speed Internet subscribers continue to crave greater upload data speeds as content creation dramatically increases," said James Martin, senior business development director of Infrastructure Products at ANADIGICS.  "Our new reverse path amplifier provides the industry's best combination of output power and linearity over the expanded 204 MHz upstream operating band to help MSOs capitalize on this trend and compete with fiber-to-the-home networks."

ANADIGICS' ARA2031 reverse path amplifier leverages the Company's proven MESFET technology and patent-pending design architectures to provide the highest output power, lowest distortion and lowest noise in its class.  Operating at frequencies up to 204 MHz, the ARA2031 provides 3 dB of margin to the DOCSIS 3.1 requirements for harmonic performance and distortion at an operating output level of +68 dBmV. This robust amplifier also includes a precision attenuator that provides up to 60 dB of attenuation in 1 dB increments.  The exceptional performance offered by ANADIGICS' ARA2031 amplifier eliminates uncorrectable bit errors for ultra-fast, ultra-reliable data transmission for an unmatched user experience.

ANADIGICS ARA2031 DOCSIS 3.1 CPE Reverse Path Amplifier Key Facts and Highlights:

  • Combines digitally controlled precision step attenuator, ultra-low noise amplifier, and ultra-linear high output driver amplifier in a compact 7 mm by 7 mm 48-pin QFN package
  • Wide 5 MHz to 204 MHz operating frequency range
  • Meets DOCSIS 3.1 harmonic performance and distortion requirements with 3 dB margin at +68 dBmV output
  • Adjustable current and RF power handling capability
  • 51 dB MER @ 204 MHz
