Analogic Congratulates Siemens on Achieving FDA Milestone

FDA Approval for Siemens’ Mammomat Inspiration, True Breast Tomosynthesis Utilizing Analogic Selenium Detector Technology

PEABODY, Mass., June 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Analogic Corporation (Nasdaq:ALOG), enabling the world’s medical imaging and aviation security technology, would like to highlight the very recent approval of the Siemens Healthcare Mammomat Inspiration digital mammography system with True Breast Tomosynthesis. Siemens’ breast tomosynthesis creates 3D images of the breast to enable the detection of tumors that are hidden by overlapping breast tissue, enabling more accurate diagnosis than standard 2D digital mammography and reducing the number of false-positive findings. The Siemens’ Mammomat Inspiration mammography system utilizes Analogic’s Selenium-based direct-digital detector plate to create this high-definition 3D image.

Analogic’s proprietary Selenium thin-film deposition processes allow unparalleled detector performance in 3D tomosynthesis with high-resolution, high-sensitivity, and high-contrast imaging capability to view most types of breast lesions. Our detectors have been installed in over 4,000 mammography systems worldwide.

Jim Green, president and CEO of Analogic, commented, “We would like to congratulate Siemens on this important milestone. Our Selenium detectors have been used by Siemens for over seven years for their 2D systems worldwide and their 3D systems outside of the United States. Now, with this FDA approval, we are looking forward to continuing this relationship for US 3D system sales.”
