PatientKeeper Employees Return to "Cradles to Crayons" to Help Underprivileged Children across Massachusetts

On-site effort sorting and packaging clothing and toys complements $5,460 cash contribution and donations of needed goods

WALTHAM, Mass., June 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the second time in 17 months, nearly 100 PatientKeeper employeesspent an afternoonlast week sorting and packaging donated clothes and toys at Cradles to Crayons, a charitable organization that provides essentials to homeless and low-income childrenacross Massachusetts.

PatientKeeper's on-site work at the Cradles to Crayons warehouse in Boston was augmented by a $5,460 cash donation – $2,960 from contributions by individual PatientKeeper employees, and $2,500 from the company. In addition, many PatientKeeper employees donated new or gently used clothing and toys.

Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. Cradles to Crayons collects new and nearly new children's items through grassroots community drives and corporate donations. Donations are then processed and packaged by volunteers, and are distributed to disadvantaged children across the state through a collaborative network of social service agencies and school partners.

Cradles to Crayons project supervisors said the hands-on work and contributions by the PatientKeeper team directly benefitted more than 650 local children.

"This was enormously rewarding work by a lot of committed people," Mike Southern, PatientKeeper's vice president of human resources, said. "It was great to see so many of our employees, from student interns through senior executives, eager to roll up their sleeves to make a difference."

PatientKeeper's community outreach team selected Cradles to Crayons for the company's 2015 Volunteerism Day project based on the success of a similar event held early last year, which PatientKeeper employees responded to very favorably.
