Louis Berger's Hawthorne Services division continues win streak with $14.8 million DLA Energy contract at Fort Knox

MORRISTOWN, N.J., June 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Louis Berger's fuels and facilities division, Hawthorne Services, has been awarded a second 19-year operations and maintenance (O &M) fuels contract by the Defense Logistics Agency Energy (DLA Energy). Valued at $14.8 million, the contract at Fort Knox, Kentucky, closely follows April's $21.6 million DLA Energy contract for fuel facility services at Fort Bliss, Texas.

"We are honored to be selected again to increase these installations' operational capabilities and support the U.S. armed forces," said Andrew V. Bailey, president of Louis Berger's services operating company. "Our Hawthorne Services division has nearly 15 years of experience in this arena, and it is that experience that has led DLA Energy to continue entrusting us to operate and maintain its fuel facilities."

Under the DLA Energy contract, Louis Berger will design, build, operate and maintain two contractor-owned, contractor-operated (COCO) bulk and retail service fuel facilities and operate a government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) bulk retail and alongside aviation refueling facility at Godman Army Airfield, located on Fort Knox.

Built in 1918, Fort Knox today is one of the largest urban communities in Kentucky and the home of the U.S. Army Human Resources Command, U.S. Army Cadet Command, and the famous U.S. Department of Treasury's Bullion Depository, which historically stored the U.S.'s official gold reserves.

The design work for the fuel facilities at Fort Knox began in May, with construction scheduled to start in July. The planned operational date for the fuel facilities at Fort Knox and Fort Bliss is February 2016.
