Sightlines to Host Inaugural "Insights Summit" for Higher Education Facilities and Finance Executives

First Sightlines Member Conference to Explore Industry Trends and Best Practices With Management of Campus Facilities

GUILFORD, Conn., June 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sightlines, a leader in helping academic institutions better manage their facilities and capital investment strategies, will host its first-ever member conference for Higher Ed executives on November 9-11, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Newport, R.I.

"Sightlines' Insight Summit '15: Building Bridges Between Finance & Facilities" is an educational and networking event designed to strengthen the lines of communication between key decision makers in the finance and facilities departments at North American colleges and universities. The event will draw from Sightlines' membership base of more than 350 academic institutions across the U.S. and Canada.

"Our members have been asking us for quite some time to create a professional conference that is focused around the shared language they have as professionals focused on facilities planning," said Mark Schiff, president and chief executive officer of Sightlines. "Unlike other campus facilities events, our Insights Summit will appeal to both facilities professionals and financial officers by helping them develop strategies that can be translated into action when they get back to their home campuses."

Insights Summit will feature the debut of "State of Facilities in Higher Education for 2015" – Sightlines' popular annual report that highlights key trends and best practices in facilities management. The rollout will include a general session to detail the findings, as well as breakout sessions tailored to specific institution types.

Beyond the "State of Facilities," the Insights Summit will feature a series of concurrent sessions presented by finance and facilities leaders from institutions that represent best practices and proven facilities strategies, with each session co-led by a Sightlines professional. Designed to cover the spectrum of challenges and opportunities, attendees will be able to choose from sessions that discuss topics such as:

  • Ways to coordinate facilities assessments with institutional strategic or master plans;
  • Best practices in balancing the needs of new space with stewardship of existing facilities;
  • Overcoming the fear of backlog and using limited resources to mitigate risk; and
  • Getting your campus green and keeping it that way.

In addition to the educational content, the event will present multiple opportunities for attendees to build new connections with facilities and finance professionals from other institutions.

"We built the conference agenda to also accommodate time for attendees to gain valuable, data-driven insights about their campuses by spending one-on-one time with Sightlines professionals and to learn more about how to access our powerful higher education facilities database, which is the deepest in the industry," said Schiff.
