SEHA facilities awarded the Stage 6 titles are: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Al Rahba Hospital, Mafraq Hospital, Corniche Hospital, Al Ain Hospital, Tawam Hospital, Madinat Zayed Hospital, Ghayathi Hospital, Marfa Hospital, Silaa Hospital and Delma Hospital.

"I am pleased that all of SEHA's 11 facilities have been recognized by a globally renowned organization, such as HIMSS, for their tremendous efforts in improving patient experience. Reaching Stage 6 is a result of focus, good direction and an unwavering commitment from leadership and the entire care team. Cerner Millennium® electronic health record supports our goal of integrated high-quality health care services to all our patients. With Cerner solutions, our staff can make more informed decisions and quickly access the information recorded for each patient at the click of a button," said George Yacoub, interim CIO, SEHA.

SEHA is the only healthcare network, with 11 hospitals, in all of Asia to achieve a HIMSS 6 rating. Currently, there are no health care facilities in the Middle East to achieve HIMSS Stage 7.

HIMSS is a global, not-for-profit organization that recognizes hospitals who have improved their delivery of health care through the use of information technology and electronic management systems. HIMSS Analytics developed EMRAM as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database. Tracking their progress on a scale of 0 (lowest) to 7 (highest), hospitals can review the implementation and utilization of IT applications. Organizations that demonstrate an advanced electronic patient record, paperless environment and capability for community health care information exchange achieve the highest score.

The pillar of SEHA hospitals' medical IT system is Cerner Millennium, a unified and integrated clinical, medical and administrative system that enables clinicians to create safe and fully-integrated patient records. These can be accessed by clinicians across the different departments to ensure all data are stored centrally and that critical information is always available for the caregiver. This helps to minimize errors, save time and provide better patient care.

"We are honored to support SEHA's facilities in their success and congratulate them on these prestigious recognitions. This is a testimony to many years of collaboration that Cerner and SEHA have worked to improve the clinical systems to support the staff, their patients and the communities they serve. We look forward to continue transforming the health care system, together," said Michael Pomerance, vice president and managing director, Cerner Middle East and Africa.

The HIMSS Stage 6 award was presented to each hospital at various HIMSS events hosted throughout the United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
