Energy Focus Ships Order for the Royal Australian Navy

SOLON, Ohio, June 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energy Focus, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies, today announced that it has shipped its first order for the Royal Australian Navy. The order consists of Energy Focus' military Intellitube® LED tubes and full fixture LED bunk lights for one of the Royal Navy's twelve frigate-class warships and totals approximately half a million dollars. The Royal Australian Navy fleet is made up of 48 commissioned warships.

Energy Focus, Inc., which remains the only U.S. Navy military-spec qualified tubular LED lamp provider and maintains its manufacturing and assembly capabilities for the product in the United States, is now actively pursuing expansion of the U.S. Navy qualified product to allied navies worldwide with a total addressable market for Energy Focus larger than that of the U.S. Navy.

"We are very pleased that the Royal Australian Navy chose Energy Focus as a LED lighting partner and values the unparalleled and proven benefits of Intellitube, which is now installed in over 170 U.S. Navy ships," said Dave Bina, Senior Vice President of the Military and Maritime Business of Energy Focus, Inc. "The patented plug-and-play technology Intellitube is built upon does not require removing existing fluorescent fixtures and works both with and without a ballast, thereby making the LED retrofit quicker, easier, more economic and more sustainable without generating unnecessary fixture waste and without ever needing new ballasts."

"This initial order from the Royal Australian Navy represents an exciting milestone in our strategic expansion into the foreign navies market," said James Tu, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Although this order was not material from a dollar standpoint, the Royal Australian Navy, which bears revenue potential in the tens of millions of dollars for Energy Focus, embraces our products and technologies after thorough evaluation, as we expect other allied navies will do in the quarters and years to come. In addition, winning the Royal Navy paves the way for Energy Focus to establish itself as a trusted and premier LED lighting brand in the broader Australian market. Therefore, we very much look forward to expanding our partnership with the Royal Navy, as well as assisting other Australian military forces, government agencies and businesses in accelerating their adoption of LED lighting with our industry leading military and commercial products."
