Malibu Files Patent Infringement Claim Against MasterCraft


LOUDON, Tenn., June 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Malibu Boats, LLC, the leading innovator and pioneer of modern wakesurfing technology, including the standard-setting Surf Gate system, today announced that it filed a lawsuit for patent infringement against MasterCraft Boat Company, LLC ("MasterCraft").

The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, alleges infringement of U.S. Patent No. 8,578,873 based on MasterCraft's "Gen 2 Surf System and the NXT Surf System." The complaint further alleges that "Malibu is entitled to millions of dollars in compensation for MasterCraft's infringement and to an injunction precluding MasterCraft from selling boats or features that infringe Malibu's valuable intellectual property."
