LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD APARTMENTS AND OFFICES IN POSTITALO IN TAMPERE, FINLAND
Lemminkäinen has signed an agreement with Fennia Mutual Insurance Company on building new apartments and office facilities in Postitalo, the former main post office building in Tampere, in Finland. The construction project is expected to begin in January 2016 and be completed at the end of 2017. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the contract.
The contract includes the construction of 85 new apartments and around 1,000 m2 of office facilities. In addition, around 2,500 m2 of existing commercial and other facilities in Postitalo will be renovated.
“The Postitalo building is located in a central, visible place next to the railway station and Postiljooninpuisto park. We want to develop the premises into an interesting whole that is harmonious with the cityscape. We will expand the premises by building apartments for sale on the Rautatienkatu side of the building. We will also renovate the office building and improve commercial services on the ground floor,” says Timo Rantala, Head of Real Estate Investments at Fennia, who is responsible for the Postitalo premises.
“Our previous projects in the same premises include a hotel for the Cumulus chain, which was completed in 2012. The new contract serves to further develop Postitalo,” says Pauli Mäkelä, Executive Vice President, Building construction at Lemminkäinen.
