Nacka and NCC in strategic partnership for more schools and sports halls

Over the next six years, NCC and the Municipality of Nacka will cooperate to
develop and build in total 14 schools, preschools and sports halls in the
expansive municipality. The total potential order value is close to SEK 2
billion over six years, with a possible extension to a total of nine years.
“The municipality of Nacka is set to grow robustly over the next fifteen years
and long-term relationships are needed in order to create an attractive city.
Strategic partnering provides favorable conditions for us to grow responsibly,”
says Mats Gerdau, Chairman of the Municipal Board.

The Municipality of Nacka needs to remodel existing schools, preschools, sports
halls and premises for cultural activities, and to invest in new premises for
educational, healthcare and sporting activities.

“As we grow, the demands on the capacity of welfare properties intensify. This
cooperation strengthens our ability to deliver better premises faster and more
cost efficiently,” says Jenny Asmundsson, Real Estate Director at the
Municipality of Nacka.

The cooperation between NCC and the Municipality of Nacka encompasses a total of
14 projects and will take the form of what is known as strategic partnering, a
long-term collaborative format, where the participating companies implement an
assignment in close cooperation and with the best interests of the project in
mind.

“By engaging in long-term cooperation and being able to transfer knowledge from
one project to the next, efficiency and the quality of implementation are
enhanced and there is more of a life cycle approach,” says Svante Hagman,
Business Area Manager of NCC Construction Sweden.

The partnership agreement also includes several solutions for social
sustainability.

“We will engage in stakeholder dialogs in conjunction with the projects to
involve all of those impacted. Another element of the agreement is the
undertaking to arrange trainee positions for the long-term unemployed with the
aim of being able to offer them jobs,” says Svante Hagman.

The partnering agreement will extend over six years with an option to extend for
three years. Order registration will take place in pace with procurement of the
projects, following decisions by the Nacka Municipal Council. The partnership
will commence in August 2015.
