Totalplay Integrates Netflix App Into Its Tripleplay Platform

A First in Mexico for the Integration of Netflix Into a Pay TV Platform

MEXICO CITY, July 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Totalplay, a Grupo Salinas company that provides the most innovative tripleplay service though the fastest network of direct-to-home fiber optics, announced today an alliance with Netflix, the world's leading Internet television network, to integrate the Netflix app directly into Totalplay set-top boxes as of July.

This is the first time in Mexico that the Netflix app is included in a Pay TV platform. Totalplay clients can access their Netflix accounts in a simple manner, with a single remote control, and can enjoy content without the need for a Smart TV or external consoles.

"Totalplay is the most innovative telecommunications provider in Mexico," said Eduardo Kuri, CEO of Totalplay. "Accessing Netflix is now as simple as changing the channel."

Totalplay offers more than 260 channels –including 85 in HD–, AnytimeTV, video and music on demand and now Netflix. The Totalplay network delivers the fastest connections in Mexico, according to the Netflix Speed Index, which measures network velocities throughout the world.

"TotalPlay's integration of Netflix will make it easier for their customers to watch Netflix on their TVs and they will now have access to movies and shows such as Orange is the New Black," said Bill Holmes, Global Head of Business Development for Netflix.

In addition to being the first to offer the service in set-top boxes, Totalplay is directly connected to Netflix servers, enabling a better Netflix experience with faster start-up times and superior image quality. TotalPlay subscribers can sign up for Netflix service with on-screen prompts or access existing Netflix accounts and enjoy a wide selection of movies and TV shows.

The Netflix catalog includes movies like La Dictadura Perfecta, documentaries such as Virunga, kid series such as Dreamworks' Dragons, Netflix original series such as Sense8, House of Cards or the upcoming Club de Cuervos and Narcos.
