QPR shares Enterprise Architecture know-how in a new business architecture book with case Aalto University

Helsinki, Finland, 2015-07-15 13:45 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QPR Software, the leading provider of enterprise architecture software and services, has contributed to the business architecture book of the year - ‘Business and Dynamic Change: The Arrival of Business Architecture’, published by Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and Future Strategies, Inc. This collaborative work from industry thought leaders unanimously illustrates the transformation of Enterprise Architecture from IT to a business imperative necessary for rapid response to change. The book was launched at the BPM and Case Management Global Summit in Washington DC on June 22-24, 2015.

QPR’s contribution - Applying Architecture to business transformation and decision making - portrays how Aalto University used Enterprise Architecture to simplify the inherited complexity, which was a result from merging together 3 independent universities in Finland. With an objective to harmonize operational activities of the previously autonomous organizations, a solution powered by QPR was put in place to increase Aalto’s operational efficiency and effectiveness by optimizing the university’s use of resources and IT assets in daily operations. The solution enabled informed decision making, which in turn led to IT budget cost savings worth €4,5 million within the first year of implementation, which represents a 12 percent cost saving from the annual IT budget.

”It’s an honour to be part of such extensive work that collects Enterprise Architecture best practices under one cover. QPR’s approach to EA is strategy driven where organizations can drive transformation in a structured way. Understanding the current state of operations gives the means to make intelligent changes, ultimately boosting the performance. And this was also the stance of Aalto University making it great to work with such a visionary organization and help them in becoming agile and efficient in their operations”, says QPR CEO Jari Jaakkola.

“The project with QPR was groundbreaking and we are excited to share the results with a wider audience”, comments Patrik Maltusch from Aalto University. “If you are not able to keep up with the pace of time and change, you will not survive. Enterprise architecture is our way to manage change. And the agility it delivers will allow us to reach our 2020 vision being an institution internationally recognized for impact of its science, art and design and education”, Maltusch continues.
