USHCC Names Senator John Cornyn as 2015 National Convention Honorary Co-Chair

WASHINGTON, July 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) today announced the participation of Senator John Cornyn, Majority Whip of the United States Senate, as Honorary Co-Chair of its upcoming 2015 National Convention, slated for September 20-22, 2015, at the Hilton Americas in Houston, Texas. The annual event - the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in America – will draw upon Senator Cornyn's commitment to representing the interests of American small business in our nation's capital.

"The USHCC is thrilled to have Senator Cornyn, a longtime friend of the association, serve as Honorary Co-Chair of our upcoming National Convention," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "For many years now, Senator Cornyn has collaborated with the USHCC on issues affecting our nation's economic growth, including international business and trade, pro-growth energy policy, and infrastructure improvements. He has a proven track record of advocating for entrepreneurs and Hispanic-owned firms, and we look forward to continuing our work together as the USHCC takes our convention to Senator Cornyn's home state."

"America boasts one of the strongest economies in the world because of our commitment to hard work, upward mobility, and earned success – three virtues the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce works tirelessly to promote.  I'm pleased the USHCC is hosting this year's convention in Texas, and I consider it a privilege to serve as an Honorary Co-Chair," said Senator John Cornyn.

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002, Senator Cornyn has been a champion for policies that strengthen the economic contributions of Hispanics in Texas, as well as the entire U.S. As a result, Hispanic-owned firms in Texas have continued to grow, hire new workers, and sustain local economies. Texas has continued to prosper economically with the help of Senator Cornyn; over the past 12 months the unemployment has fallen from 5.2% to 4.2%, and roughly 300,000 new private sector jobs were created.

"Senator Cornyn is the optimal choice to help host our membership as Honorary Co-Chair of the 2015 USHCC National Convention in Houston" said former USHCC Chairman and 2015 Convention HBE Chair Marc Rodriguez. "In many ways, our network of entrepreneurs and business advocates in Texas have been able to flourish because of his work to promote free market ideals, and we greatly appreciate having his stern leadership in Washington."

The USHCC National Convention serves as a premier networking venue, bringing together executives from major U.S. corporations, public officials, chamber leaders and entrepreneurs seeking to establish strategic, long-lasting partnerships with the Hispanic business community.
