New CEO of the Housing Financing Fund


The Board of Directors of the Housing Financing Fund has recruited Hermann Jónasson to be the new CEO of HFF.

Mr Jónasson obtained a law degree from the University of Iceland (1995), passed his bar exam (2000) and obtained a degree as a certified securities broker from Reykjavík University (2003).

Mr Jónasson was employed:

  • in the Ministry of Finance as an Attorney at Law in the Ministry’s Office of Income and Legal Affairs (1995–2000)
  • at Landsbréf hf. as Head of Securities Trading (2000–2002)
  • at Landsbanki Íslands hf. as Head of Securities Services and Private Banking in addition to being the Managing Director of Íslenski lífeyrissjóðurinn (2002–2004)
  • at Landsbanki Íslands hf. as the Managing Director of Sales and Marketing (2004–2008)
  • at Tal hf. as CEO and managed, among other things, the merger of the telecommunications companies Hive and Sko (2008–2010)
  • at Arion banki hf. as Managing Director of Development and Marketing (2010–2011)
  • at Jónatansson & Co. Legal Services undertaking legal work for the Winding-up Committee of VBS Investment Bank hf. (2011–2015).

Mr Jónasson is married to Guðrún Sigtryggsdóttir, Senior Attorney at the City of Reykjavík’s Department of Education and Recreation, and they have three daughters.

Mr Jónasson will begin working at the HFF on Monday, 20 July 2015.
