LSI Industries Chosen to Illuminate Prominent Cincinnati Landmarks

CINCINNATI, July 21, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LSI Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:LYTS) today announced the completion of two prominent image installations in downtown Cincinnati in advance of the 2015 Major League Baseball (MLB) All Star festivities, which took place on July 11th -14th at the Cincinnati Reds Stadium.  LSI Industries manufactured and installed the new outdoor Video Board at the Cincinnati Reds stadium entrance on the Hall of Fame wall outside Great American Ballpark. LSI also manufactured and donated new specialty lighting fixtures for the historic Roebling Bridge that spans the Ohio River from Kentucky into downtown Cincinnati.

Ross Sferra, Director of LSI's SmartVision® business, and his team led the LED Video Board project for Great American Ballpark, home of the Cincinnati Reds. The Video Board was assembled in the LSI Blue Ash, Ohio plant in late June. The new 20 foot by 30 foot LED Video Board utilized 10mm LED spacing, with 930 pixels per square foot. This compares to the Reds' existing scoreboard, which contains 250 pixels per square foot. The resulting clarity of the new board is about three times sharper than the existing jumbo scoreboard. LSI won the project due to its ability to manufacture and install a board with the size and clarity required for the project in an extremely short period of time.

LSI also manufactured specialty lighting to illuminate the towers of the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, one of Greater Cincinnati’s most prominent landmarks.  Additionally, a custom paint job was utilized to create light fixtures that match the shade of blue that defines the bridge. The committee in charge of the bridge’s lights and flags replaced the lighting on the signature towers prior to the All Star game. Henry Peters, President of the Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee, commented, “The bridge will be brighter at night and stand out more than it has in the past, especially when they show the night views.”

John Bagwell, President - LSI Technology Division, stated, “As a local Cincinnati-based company, LSI Industries is very pleased to have participated in these prominent landmark installations. The LSI SmartVision® Video Board for the Great American Ballpark is another example of the application of our core strategy of Lighting + Graphics + Technology to provide our customers with Superior Image Solutions.  Importantly, with over two decades of experience in the development of large format LED indoor and outdoor displays, we were able to move quickly to provide a reliable and durable video board for this project." Mr. Bagwell also noted, "When you watch almost any national TV broadcast of a Cincinnati Reds or Bengals game you will see a view of the stadium with the bridge in the foreground. If it is a night game, like the MLB All-Star Games, the bridge’s lights stand out. The bridge was highlighted on virtually every aerial camera view of the All-Star Game."
